One of the things I miss most about my old life was my ability to connect with friends at my favorite cafés and coffee shops around town. These were quaint, intimate spaces where we could sit down with our favorite beverage (mine was a mint mocha latte) and block out the rest of the world for a while.
Many times, I was meeting someone that I hadn’t seen in a long while, so we would sit for hours catching up. Usually, these were the type of friends where we could go for years without having a conversation, yet we could pick up where we left off and the connection was just as strong as it was years earlier.
When I became very ill in 2012, I completely dropped out of society. I was completely bedbound for several years, and after that mostly housebound. Needless to say, I didn’t get to do much connecting with friends.
Even though I wasn’t able to go out and meet friends at my favorite cafés and coffee shops, I decided to create an intimate space online to accomplish the same thing. That’s my hope for this blog.
I’m hoping to connect with you in an intimate space and have meaningful conversation. In the process, I want to look below the surface of symptoms and try to uncover root causes of illness.
I know that it can feel very lonely at times when you have a chronic illness. As much as they try, sometimes our loved ones just can’t understand what we’re going through. I’m hoping that this is a place where you can connect with people who understand your struggles.
A place where we can provide emotional support and information to make this daunting journey a little easier. I’ve learned a few things along the way that I would love to share with you, but I want to hear from you, too! I want us to learn from each other!
So, what do you want to talk about?? Leave a comment and let me know!
Also, we have a lively Facebook Community where we discuss the latest health information, recipes, safe skincare options and more. We’d love to have you! To protect your privacy, it’s a closed group, so just request to join, and I’ll approve you asap!
